Steel Monkey Engineering Limited are a specialist manufacturer of staging and scenery for the film, television and music industries. We create one-off sets and bespoke scenery for designers and producers of awards shows, concerts and art installations.The company was formed in 1997 by Chris and Annie French and having started out in a small workshop on the Bristol docks, the company now employs 30 highly skilled, full-time staff and have over 28,000 sq ft of production and office facilities dedicated to drafting, metal and aluminium fabrication, mechanical engineering, joinery and CNC routing.Our extensive scenic department offers poly carving and sculpting; polyurea coating and fibreglass; scenic painting and fabric work.We are able to offer our clients a complete, expert service from CAD drawing through manufacturing, to fitting on-site. Our knowledge and understanding of the industry means that we can offer our clients the assurance that what has been requested gets delivered, from a one-off piece of public art to a full touring set.Steel Monkey have been the preferred company for the band sets on the Brit Awards and Classical Brit Awards shows since 2001 and have supplied the main set on the Baftas since 2002.We have worked on prestigious shows such as A Concert For Diana, Princes Trust and Live Earth and with many artists, including Robbie Williams, U2 and Katherine Jenkins. Our most recent projects have been the Twisted Chimney by New York artist Brian Tolle and the Help For Heroes concert at Twickenham.
